In the past, when the remix was hosted on LiveJournal, sign-ups, matching, and assignments were all handled manually. The first round went fairly smoothly, but with the influx of participants last round it created many, many problems.

Round three, along with being hosted here on DreamWidth, is also going to be handled through AO3. What this means is there will be no spreadsheets to lose, no sign-up forms to overlook, and hopefully no last-minute shuffling of assignments.

So, what will you be nominating?

Because this is a remix, and not a typical exchange, nominations are not going to work exactly like other exchanges. You will be able to nominate fandoms, characters, pairings, tropes, and anything else you can think of.

When you use the fandoms, characters, and pairings fields, these will not be what you want to write or draw, but what you have already written or drawn. When you use the freeform field, this is what you DO NOT want to write or draw. You can put anything in this field: characters, pairings, kinks, et cetera.

Now, with all this in mind, I have a question for any potential participants:

Should the exchange continue to be limited to just the Avengers, or would you like to see it opened up to other franchises as well?

In past rounds, remixes had to focus on Avengers characters. But with other comics growing in popularity, and Guardians of the Galaxy being the latest MCU movie, I'm wondering if people would be willing to overlook the name this remix has had for the last few rounds, or if people think it should stay Avengers-focused.

I've not been part of the remix community long enough to have any definitive opinion, but in regards to other comics and the like - maybe there could be a 'crossover' option somehow? I don't know how Ao3 works, but as long as the main pairing has one of the characters from Avengers, it could still be an Avengers remix?

Or it could just become in general a Remix challenge instead of an Avengers Remix challenge... I'd honestly be happy and participate in either scenario.

I think you could pretty easily expand the exchange to the whole MCU without much trouble; people would understand.

A move to the whole Marvel franchise would raise questions, though. For example, would you want to limit the eligible comics to MCU-character-centric titles (just Avengers, Thor, GOTG, etc.)? Those lines are hard to draw sometimes. If not, does that open the door to non-MCU Marvel movies as well (e.g., the X-Men and F4 movie franchises, etc)? I think you could definitely make that move, but the name would be confusing and it would be a lot more work.

I have a question which isn't nominations related, but this seemed like the best place to ask it--will you be doing a signup post for pinch hits, or a google group, etc.?
